Types of Psychic Readings

January 5th, 2007

There are many types, methods and systems of psychic or extrasensory readings employed by those who have psychic abilities. A professional psychic may have one or more specialized areas of expertise such as Psychometric, Distant Readings, Tarot Reading, Astrology or Horoscope Readings, Numerology, Palm Reading, Past Life Readings, Aura Readings, or any number of other methods. The following article outlines some of the more popular methods of conducting a psychic reading today.

Psychic readings include Face to Face Readings such as In-Person Readings at home, Psychic Party Readings for a group, and the less detailed and shorter Psychic Fair Readings. Distant Readings include Internet Readings, Phone Readings and Mail Readings. In some rare cases a method of psychic sensing known as remote viewing is used.

Distant Readings: Distant Readings are conducted many times without the reader ever meeting or speaking to the client. The client asks questions pertaining to his or her life and a psychic uses intuitive senses to determine a probable outcome or solution to those questions. At times this practice is similar to methods used for remote viewing and healing. This method dispenses with the possibility of the reader picking up on visual or verbal queues evident in face to face or telephone readings. Today, distant psychic readings are often conducted via the internet through email.

Psychometry Readings: Psychometry is a form of post-cognition which enables the psychic reader to receive information about people, events or objects, events that have already occurred, or are occurring by being in close contact with the area or object where the event took place. If you seek psychometric reading in the commercial world, the reader would ask for your favorite and closely worn objects such as wedding rings, glasses, and car keys, etc., for the reading. The belief is that objects which are in close proximity to a person for extended periods of time hold some of that person’s energy, energy which can be detected. This method is often used to try and locate missing persons.

There are also the forms of sensory psychic abilities which include clairaudience, clairsentience, and clairvoyance. Clairaudience is defined as the ability to hear or sense sounds that cannot be perceived by normal means. Clairsentience is another type of extrasensory perception that involves sensing past, present, or future events. Clairvoyance is a synonym for extrasensory perception this definition includes any knowledge or consciousness of an event outside of the classic five senses.

Tarot Readings: Tarot reading is one of the most popular forms of psychic reading in which a traditional deck of 78 cards known as the Tarot is used to predict and interpret relationships, love, careers, etc. The tarot is also used for spiritual, esoteric, psychological, occult and divinatory purposes. Tarot reading tends to have a great deal of variables since each card in the Tarot, as well as the order in which they appear, and their position within the ’spread’ when dealt, have different specific meanings. The meaning of each tarot card is also open to the interpretations of the tarot reader and the same set of cards may have two different meanings to two different readers.

Divination is another type of psychic ability or tool. Divination is the act of making prophesies or predictions through the use of occult methods. Tarot card reading is a form of divination.

Numerology: Numerology is defined as the study of the occult meanings of numbers and their influence on human life. It is essentially a reading of an individual based specifically upon numerical values such as their date of birth, letters in their names, etc. Numerology was once considered part of higher mathematics in the ancient world.

Aura Reading: Aura psychic reading involves the observation and interpretation of auras around physical human bodies. The “aura” is a set of cascading colour outlines emanating from the surface of your body which differs from one person to another in terms of size, shape, intensity, and colour. Aura readers claim to have the ability to see or sense this aura, observe each characteristic and interpret their meaning to the individual.

Tarot Readings

December 8th, 2006

Tarot symbolism is taken from many sources, including Astrology, Kabbala, Runes, and even I-Ching. Each tarot card has its own unique interpretation.

Each deck has a total of 78 cards of which 22 are major arcana or trumps. Some of these are The Lovers, The Fool, The Pope, and The World. The 56 cards or minor arcana, are divided into 4 suits of 14 cards each. The 4 suits are swords, cups, wands and pentacles.

Each card has a positive and negative interpretation. Read upright it is positive, and reversed it could be negative. The Fool upright would mean new opportunities whereas upside down it could mean foolhardiness. The Magician upright would mean thinking well around situations; reversed it could mean trickery, deception or a warning about someone you trust. The Chariot is associated with triumph, while upside down with rage and tyranny. The Hanged Man is associated with flexibility and negatively with materialism, an inflated ego, martyrdom etc. The Transformation card is associated with change or endings, while negatively it shows loss of opportunity and friendship, or even fear of change. The Wheel of Fortune is linked to destiny, movement, vision and good luck; while on the other hand it could signify obstacles, ill luck and unpleasant surprises.

Believers say that unknown powers in the tarot cards make symbols unite in order to point out what we want to know. These symbols are interpreted based on repeated results. For example, if the death card falls in a favorable position, a couple could have a long and successful relationship.

There are many reasons why people read tarot cards. It could be to look into the future, as problem solving, visualization, meditation or even for the sheer pleasure of a card game! Some even collect these for their sheer beauty and uniqueness. Psychiatrists would use cards to understand a patient?s inner thoughts or associations.

You can get a wide choice of tarot cards and books online. Check out Amazon.com, The Tarot Garden, Alidastore, eBay and other such websites.

Astrology - A Simple Reading

September 28th, 2006

Because astrological readings can be a chapter in a book alone, for the purposes of this article we’re going to do a very simple and stripped down reading. However, this will give you a good foundation for really getting into depth when doing your own reading.

The first thing you have to do is get the subject’s birth info. We need the date, time and place of birth. For the purposes of this reading, we’ll just pull some info out of thin air. Let’s take April 15, 1984, at 8:00 AM in the town of Newark, New Jersey.

We take this information and throw it into our favorite astrological computer program. For this example we’ll use Astro123, which is actually a shareware program with some very powerful features.

After throwing in our variables, the program spits out an astrological chart for us containing the position of each planet and some analysis to follow.

Reading the chart itself can be a little difficult at first, but with some practice you’ll more than get the hang of it.

The first thing we want to look for is the sun sign. In this case, the sun is in Aries so this person is an Aries. As stated in an earlier article people born between March 21 and April 20 are Aries. Aries people have very strong personalities and are usually natural born leaders. They are very straightforward, which means they can be very blunt. An Aries is the kind of person you want to have as a friend as they will fight to the death to defend your honor.

Looking beyond that, we have the following pieces of information. This person’s moon is in Scorpio. This indicates that this person is very secretive and tends to brood in silence over the wrongs that people have done to him or her. These wrongs can be real or imagined. It doesn’t matter to a person with their moon in Scorpio. Other planets are in other signs but we concentrate on the moon because since it is the body that is closest to the Earth it is the one with the most influence on us.

Then there are the planets as they fall into certain houses. Remember, there are 12 houses and 8 planets plus the sun and moon. How each of these bodies fall into each house affects how we deal with the various aspects of our lives.

For example, this person born on this day has the moon in their 5th house. Taking what we know about each of these we can make some generalizations about this person. The moon is what represents our feminine side. The 5th house is the house of creativity. A person with the moon in their 5th house indicates that emotions may get in the way of creativity. This is not a good thing for someone who dreams of being an artist. Unfortunately, many of histories most tormented artists had the moon in their 5th house at birth. That is why so many ended up as suicides or going mad.

Then we have the aspects that we discussed in an earlier article. These are the things that provide us with the challenges in our lives. One of the strongest aspects in this person’s chart is Mars being square to Neptune. In this case it is a perfect square at exactly 90 degrees. Squares are the most challenging of aspects. In this case, Mars square to Neptune indicates a person who fights for the underdog. Many rights activists have Mars square to Neptune. These people are constantly challenged and their lives are never easy when fighting for the rights of others.

These few pieces of information are but a fraction of a person’s astrological analysis. You can see now why astrology is such a complex science and a lot more than just predicting the future.

Protecting Yourself Psychically

June 22nd, 2006

There are many energetic leeches or energetic vampires around and sometimes you may feel you need more protection. If you do need to put up a psychic shield this is one way that you can do this. I use this technique myself. I imagine that it is a light weight extremely thin titanium shield. I imagine the colors of titanium on my shield (which is blues and pinks and purples tones.) Titanium is extremely strong and durable. I next imagine that this invisible shield materializes in front of my heart and third eye and separates me from whatever energy drain I’m receiving. It could be from a specific person that is trying to intimidate me, or of a psychic energy of which I’m very aware and I don’t want any part. In my exercise when my shield comes up, I imagine that the psychic drain, or probe from them is immediately blocked.

My shield can be as long or tall as I create. If I need further protection, I can then imagine my shield is more like a thin fortress that can wrap all around me like light weight body armor. If I feel I need a bigger separation, I imagine a very thick psychic wall that is growing thicker, wider, and stronger between me and that person. I can push them back with that wall. “My space. Your space.” That need has not occurred many times but on occasion that I was traveling on a bus or in a public space and you can’t control the environment or who will want to invade your space, just because they can. They don’t have to know that you are doing anything psychically. You don’t even need to look in their direction, but if you are effective in putting up your wall, they will begin to become uncomfortable in the location that they chose near you and will begin to find another place away from you to stand. When that happens, you can back off building the thickness of your wall. You can diminish your wall if you choose or just keep your psychic shield active. Once you get the hang of this you can create a psychic shield or wall at will.

Another technique that I sometimes use is to imagine that I’m behind a one way mirror that is used in police stations. On your side you can view, but they can’t see you from behind the glass, that has a mirror on their side. However you must do what you feel is comfortable, and you must practice working with your psychic ability and also backing off. Practice putting up your shields, or walls, and folding them down again. Hone your craft. Keep asking questions, expecting guidance and making psychic adjustments. Believe me, you’ll do fine. Work with balance. You will begin to expand your abilities immediately. You will be able to manage your abilities more and more. Everything comes with practice.

Soul-Level Astrology: A Multi-Dimensional Look at the Birth Chart

April 21st, 2006

When we take a deeper look through the lens of astrology we can see our psychological make-up and imprinting that often operates on an unconscious level. Becoming aware of our imprinting or inner scripts is the first step to becoming free of them. This is the level where we can do lasting emotional and mental healing.

Beyond the mental level lies a deeper strata which we could call the soul level. On the soul level, the individual is seen as an expression of spirit. This is particularly helpful for healing core issues as all “dis-ease” starts at the energetic level. By understanding where energy is blocked we can open up new pathways for healing.

Lastly, astrology can help us see our true, soul-level purpose in life. The astrological chart is indeed a map of our spiritual destiny if our eyes are open. This is the highest level of astrology and requires that the astrologer has done the work necessary to guide on this level. When we open to our true soul-purpose or calling we let go of feelings of separation and see that life is unfolding according to the divine plan. And……we see that by expressing our individual gifts we are co-creating this Divine plan with spirit moment by moment.

What Is A Horoscope?

April 21st, 2006

In astrology, a horoscope is a detailed chart plotting the geocentric positions of the planets and other celestial bodies in relation to earth. They are charted in relation to a specific place and time of an event, such as someone’s birth.

The word “horoscope” is derived from the Greek word “horoskopos” (pl. “horoskopoi”) which literally means “a look at the hours.” In everyday conversation, “horoscope” can also refer to an astrologer’s interpretation of the astrological diagram.

If an astrologer were to look at someone’s horoscope in relation to their birth, they would look at a chart of the positions of the sun, moon, planets, and stars relative to the person’s birthplace on earth. In other words, the horoscope would show where everything in the universe was in relation to everything else when the person was born. It would show where each planet and major star was in relation to earth at the exact time of their birth.

The first horoscope is thought to be from 409 B.C. From there its popularity spread to the East along with the Roman conquerors and then spread to Western Europe, where it was regarded as a science.

Horoscopes are now a source of interest for many people across the globe who want to know more about themselves and others.

TAROT – How Often Should You Have a Reading?

April 21st, 2006

One of my FAQs is, “How often should I have a Tarot Card reading?” There is no general answer. It depends on your purpose - what type of reading you are having and the way you are using it. If you are looking for some indication about what is happening in general in the future, then you could have a reading every six months or so, or perhaps every year.

This kind of reading tends to involve a bigger “spread” or “layout” as Tarot readings are called, with more cards in it. This allows a broader view of trends that may be coming into play around you. It usually tells a reader whether you are in a time of change or of relative stability - whether new stuff is going to happen or things remain very similar to how they are now. You don’t need this kind of reading very frequently. It’s “big picture” stuff and tends to change slowly.

If you are looking at one issue at a time, such as if you are going to get a new job soon, you can ask that question with a smaller kind of layout. A few cards or a Celtic Cross will be fine and will tell you what the possibilities are in that situation. The reading might tell you if you need to add to your skills and head off in a new career direction or search more thoroughly for a job than you are currently doing. If you asked about moving house it might say that moving would be disruptive at this time. The Tarot is always more than just “Yes” or “No”. Usually it gives you some advice or insight as well.

With a reading based on one specific topic you can ask whenever you like as long as the topics are different. It’s no good asking the same thing many times, because the answers just become confusing and often merely reflect how you are feeling that day. I always try to discourage people from becoming dependent on divination. Asking the same question again and again, trying to “nag” the cards into telling you what you want to hear is not healthy. Sometimes life doesn’t give us what we want and we have to accept that and get on with things as best we can.

It’s better not to ask trivial questions. I have found that the Tarot works best when you’ve thought out your question carefully and put it in a sensible manner. When you have an answer to a question, then it’s a good idea to go away and reflect on it and see how that answer can help you with your problem. That is one of the strengths of the Tarot - guidance. It can help us to see solutions for ourselves.

By using the Tarot wisely, it becomes like talking to a good friend. The answers often open up new ways of looking at our lives that can help us bring out the best for ourselves in the future. Like all good friends it responds best if you take notice of the answers it gives.

Persistence Brings Success –- Your Dreams May Be Much Closer Than You Think

March 22nd, 2006

Persistence often means success, even in the face of what can look like failure. You never know how close you are to victory, and your dreams may be much closer than you think.

In his classic book, “Think And Grow Rich”, best-selling author Napoleon Hill tells the story of a man who put everything he had into the search for oil, but every shaft he sank stayed dry. Eventually, after many unsuccessful tries and with his funding and his patience both exhausted, he gave up, and to cut his losses sold the land and the equipment to a rival.

The second would-be millionaire had done his homework well. He’d surveyed the land with care, as well as learning from the other man’s mistakes, and at his very first attempt he struck black gold. His oil well made a fortune — just three feet beyond the first man’s final try.

Recently I watched a TV program about the sister of the British Queen. Apparently Princess Margaret as a girl had been in love with a former fighter pilot and war hero, Group Captain Peter Townsend. The couple planned to marry — but there was a problem. Peter Townsend was divorced, and at that time it was considered unacceptable for the Queen’s sister to marry a divorced man.

The Prime Minister and the politicians insisted that this could not happen. The Princess was given a stark choice. She could give up her place in the Royal Family, her income of £6,000 a year (about $11,000 — a lot of money at the time), the palace the she lived in, her servants, her title and the whole nine yards — or she could give up Peter Townsend.

Eventually, she was persuaded that it was her duty to renounce the man she loved. (She later married someone else — and, ironically, her own marriage ended in divorce.)

Although the Princess believed that she was faced with opposition it would be impossible to overcome, that wasn’t actually the case. Government papers from the time which have only now been made public show that, unknown to the Princess, the politicians had given up the fight.

Faced with the overwhelming support of the public for the marriage, the Government had secretly agreed that if, as they expected, the Princess insisted on marrying the man she loved, they would allow her to keep her status in the Royal Family, and actually raise her income to £15,000 a year ($29,000 — a MASSIVE sum of money at the time!).

The Princess had no idea how close she came to victory. If she’d just stood firm, she would have had it all. The Government had even set the date for making the announcement - but they never had to make it. Just three days before the news was to be made public, the Princess called off her engagement.

One story from the 19th Century, and one from the 20th — but their message is as timeless as it’s universal.

If you have a dream, hold on to it. The only certain way to fail is to give in. You’re never beaten till you say you are — and if you NEVER say you are, you’re never beaten.

You never know how close you are to victory, and your dreams might be much closer than you think.

Success might be three days away - or just three feet.

How To Play Guitar - Discover 20 Tips To Play Like a Pro

March 21st, 2006

Most guitar players desire to become a better guitar player.
Guitarist ask me quite often why they are not at the
level that they desire and what can they do. In the past
I have asked myself the very same question. Soon I began
to understand the answers.

Just as you have probably done, I have read a lot of how
to play guitar interviews and articles from great guitar
players. I often found it frustrating whenever the subject
of learn to play guitar came up or when advice was offered
on improving someone’s playing. With a few exceptions,
little time and space was ever devoted on this.

It is not uncommon to see a guitar player give advise to
learn to play the guitar summed up in as little as three
words: Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!

I remember when I first was learning how to play guitar I
would practice on some days so long that the ends of my
fingers would be tender to the touch and hurt for days.

We all know that practicing is the main ingredient. Does
a football player practice a few times and then is able
to play up to the caliber of an NFL football player?

Rarely are we told anything more than on how to play the
guitar then to just practice. In my long quest to become
an excellent player I carefully took note of what worked
and what did not - which parts conventional wisdom are
accurate and which parts are (at least in my opinion)
are not. I believe the following twenty tips have proven
to bring great results to those who use them:

1. Educate yourself! It doesn’t matter what current level
you at can and should always learn guitar more. If you are
currently in a position to learn guitar online, studying
a home guitar study course, or have a teacher for you to
learn how to play guitar then your on the right track.
If you are not doing this (or if you feel that your current
home study course is not helping you enough in reaching
your goals) I strongly recommend looking for a new one.
I can not stress enough how important it is to find
a good home study course that is right for you! Your home
study course (or teacher) should always be Goal Orientated.
If its not look for another course or teacher to study with!
You don’t need a home study course or teacher to simply
give you information or things to practice - you
can get those things anywhere, what you need is a
study course or teacher who:

A. Knows what your goals are.
B. Cares about helping you reach your goals.
C. Knows how to help you reach your goals.

2. Listen to more music. This is really something that helped
me. There is a lot of music out there that you have not heard.
I am sure you can find something you really like and that
would inspire you. Look on the internet if you can not find it
on the conventional radio. Check out internet radio. You can
customize what you hear based on your preferences; its a great
tool! Check out web sites that you know feature a lot of the
music in the style you like. Listen to the guitarist in the
background. Listen to the strum patterns, picking or anything
else the guitarist is doing.

3. Turn your musical frustrations into an asset in the form
of a motivating force. I used to get frustrated when I was
trying to learn how to play guitar. I would use this
frustration to motivate me to play the next day and then
the next day and all afternoon sometimes.

4. Believe in yourself. You have probably heard that phrase
many times before. It’s sad how many people don’t believe
in their beliefs or themselves. If you don’t believe in
yourself, you will not grow as a guitarist. I always in
my mind say, “I can do it; I know I can.” This can be
a driving force no matter what you want to accomplish in
life. If you start something and never thought you could
accomplish it in the first place than you probably will
not.

5. Understand that becoming a better guitarist means becoming
a better musician as well. When developing your musical skills,
make sure to think beyond the skills that are specific to
guitar. You will be working on many guitar skills - various
guitar techniques, chords, scales, soloing, etc., - but don’t
neglect other skills that are not guitar specific like ear
training (also called aural skills and very important),
songwriting, improvising, creativity, reading,
music theory, etc. When I was learning how to play guitar I
would work with a pianist once or twice a week with ear
training, creativity, and even music theory.Don’t limit
yourself.

Each of us has some natural ability of some kind. You may
already know what yours is or you may not yet discovered it.
If being a better musician is not coming easy for you that
simply means you are like the rest of us.

I have continued the next five tips of 20 tips to part II
of how to play guitar - discover 20 tips to play like a pro.

The next tip I will be discussing is “Surround yourself
with better guitar players” Be sure to get part II with
the next 5 tips.
